Lean Manufacturing

Lean Manufacturing—or often simply “Lean” is a production practice, operational strategy, and management philosophy initially developed by Toyota, which is widely credited with fuelling their growth from a small manufacturer to the world’s largest automaker. Lean strategies have since grown into a full-fledged, independent and comprehensive business philosophy applied by many successful companies around the globe.

At its core, Lean is centered on the preservation of value with less work—by focusing on reducing waste and wasteful practices to improve overall customer value. In practice, Lean considers the expenditure of resources for any goal other than creating value for customers to be wasteful, and as such a target for elimination. There are varying theories and perspectives on how to best achieve these targets. Several commonly used sets of tools exist to enable companies to implement Lean Manufacturing principles.

For some consultants, Lean is merely a set of tools that assist in identifying and eliminating wasteful practices—such as Kaizen Events or Value Stream Mapping. However successful Lean deployment is not just about tools, but in the application of those tools and the comprehensive strategies and methodologies that are applied when targeting wasteful practices.

At SSCX we have developed through extensive trials and experience our own Lean Manufacturing strategy, which we have successfully deployed in some of the largest companies in the Asia Pacific region with great results. We seek to improve the smoothness and flow of work rather than merely “reduce waste”. Our results speak for themselves, because we take the time and effort to develop uniquely tailored solutions for all our client companies. This is because every company is unique-not just in structure and culture, but also within the business environment it operates in.

We offer free initial discussion, executive briefing, and free Lean Assessment for qualified companies. To learn more on this please drop us an email.
